Peter performs at Världens Barn Gala

Peter performed at Världens Barn on 12 October 2012. This is a humanitarian gala to raise money for children around the world. Peter performed two songs – “Music of the Night” from “Phantom of the Opera” and Luck Be A Lady” from “Guys and Dolls”, no doubt a taste of his I Love Musicals tour due to kick off later this month.

SVT has these two performances on their playback service for a limited time. Click on the following links to view the clips (may not work in your country).

New Peter Jöback book for and about Christmas

A book by Peter and journalist Lena Katerina Swanberg is being published by Bonnier Fakta in November this year. The publisher’s website says this about the book:

Peter Jöback, one of our most beloved artists, talks in his book Jag kommer hem igen till jul about his dream of a Christmas community and how it has finally come true. He describes his Christmases straight from his heart: drunk Christmases, expectant Christmases, sad Christmases … but also his family’s joyful Christmases. The emotional book is richly illustrated with beautiful pictures and song lyrics and sheet music. The text, written by journalist Lena Katerina Swanberg, is filled with Peter’s own message of peace, hope and reconciliation.

It has been ten years since Peter Jöback released the album of the same name – the album which is already a modern classic and, for many, an essential part of Christmas. A new bonus DVD featuring Peter Jöback’s Christmas concert is included with the book.

It is due to be published on 20 November 2012 although various online stores are giving the date as 6 November 2012.

Peter Jöback Debuts as the Phantom

Peter debuted in the title role of “Phantom of the Opera” on Monday night in London’s West End. The Swedish press have been giving Peter’s performance rave reviews:

“Phenomenal Jöback gives the whole musical a new life” – Expressen

“He has the voice and feels credible as the vengeful recluse. … In six months, Peter Jöback will be one of the tourist attractions in London.” – Aftonbladet

“It is a slightly different portrait that [Peter] gives us. … His still quite youthful look and voice gives us a more fragile and vulnerable Phantom, but also a more complex and unpredictable figure.” – Swedish Radio

Some long standing fans of “Phantom of the Opera” (often known as Phans) have been critical of the choice of Peter but this has been without actually seeing him in the role. After Monday’s premiere, one such phan who had doubts about Peter has written that Peter was brilliant. Peter’s acting was awesome and he added some new touches to the character.

This all bodes well for Peter during his run in the show. Well done, Peter.
