Peter Jöback and Ola Salo – Jesus Christ Superstar arena tour

Peter will be joining with Ola Salo for an arena tour of Jesus Christ Superstar, especially adapted for an arena performance. Peter will be playing Jesus and Ola will be Judas.

The show premieres at the Hartwall Arena in Helsinki, Finland on 28 and 29 January 2022. The tour then kicks off in Sweden on 4 February 2022 in Karlstad. The Swedish dates and venues are shown in the graphic above.

You may remember that Peter and Ola co-hosted one of the heats of Melodifestivalen back in 2015 and performed the song “Sing Me Out” together. “Sing Me Out” was also released via Spotify and other digital platforms.

Ola has previous form with Jesus Christ Superstar. In 2008, he translated the show into Swedish for a special performance in Malmö. A cast recording album was released in 2009. There have been several arena tours since then. In these productions, Ola has played Jesus so this time will be different for him.

Peter has also played Jesus in 1998 in a concert version of Jesus Christ Superstar in Stockholm and Gothenburg back in 1998.

Peter has said that this production will be in English.

Tickets are available from Ticketmaster.

Häxorna i Eastwick extended

“Häxorna i Eastwick” has been a success in Stockholm with Peter in the lead role as the devilish Darryl Van Horn.

The show has been extended until 29 February 2020. Tickets are available here.

Returning to Eastwick

1920x1060_HX_webb

Peter is making a return visit to Eastwick this September in a new Swedish production of “Witches of Eastwick”, now called “Häxorna i Eastwick”.

The musical is based on the cult film starring Jack Nicholson as the Devil and Cher, Michelle Pfeiffer and Susan Sarandon as the titular witches. It originally opened in the West End back in 2000 and Peter was in the cast, originating the role of Michael, the son of one of the witches. Peter also sang on the original cast recording at the time.

Peter will now star as Darryl Van Horne, the Devil himself when this new production opens at Cirkus in Stockholm in September 2019. Also starring as the witches are Linda Olsson, Kayo and Vanna Rosenberg (Peter’s co-star in “Sweeney Todd”).

The show opens on 19 September 2019 and tickets are now on sale through Showtic. It is booking until 2 November 2019.

Peter included “Who’s the Man” from the original show on his “I Love Musicals” album.

Songs from “Med hjärtat som insats”

medhjartat01

Peter has created a playlist on Spotify containing his original recorded versions of the songs performed in his show “Med hjärtat som insats”.

The songs on the playlist are:

  • Addicted
  • Higher
  • Under My Skin
  • This Song of Mine
  • Ingen skyldighet
  • Jag såg mig redan där
  • Tiden
  • Somebody
  • Balladen om det angenärna
  • Han är med mig nu
  • Jackie
  • Mellan en far och en son
  • Jag har dig nu
  • Glömskans tåg
  • Under morgonljuset
  • Stoppa mig
  • Everybody Hurts
  • I’m Gonna Do It
  • The Mask
  • Shape of You
  • Stockholm i natt
  • I Feel Good and I’m Worth It

Some points to note from the show. This is based on my memory of the show so please forgive any mistakes.

  • “Addicted” is not the first song in the show, just the latest addition to the playlist. The rest of the playlist appears to more or less follow the order of the songs in the show.
  • “Higher” and “Under My Skin” are in the pre-show and not the main show. They were performed by members of the ensemble.
  • “Stockholm i natt” is the final song in the show. “I Feel Good and I’m Worth It” is an encore.
  • Another five songs from Peter’s forthcoming album were also in the show but are currently not in the playlist since they have not been released yet. “What If Tomorrow Never Comes”, “Rushing Into Love”, “I Want To Know”, “Dancing” and “Believer”.
