The first episode of Så Mycker Bättre has kicked off this weekend on Sweden’s TV4. TV4 does have a catch-up service online but unfortunately most of the content is geoblocked.
The good news is that every week the artists release their songs on digital platforms. At the end of the series, the usual practice is for a CD to be released containing all the songs.
Anyway, Peter’s first song is an amazing rendition of Melissa Horn’s “Falla fritt”. It is on Spotify and YouTube (see above).
If you’re interested, here is the original music video of Melissa’s version from 2010.
In the same episode of Så Mycket Bättre, brothers Gustaf & Viktor Norén interpreted Peter’s “Guldet blev till sand”.
While we are on a YouTube roll, here is the trailer for Så Mycket Bättre.
It’s been a little difficult to update the site recently and all though Christmas is behind us, I thought I would combine a few newsy type items in the one post.
Peter’s Christmas movie has done well, reaching number 2 on the Swedish box office charts, just behind”Joker”. Reviews have been positive, some noting the dark themes, darker than you would expect from a Christmas movie. Despite this, there is still a feel good factor and critics have praised the director and of course Peter. Keep an eye out for it at film festivals or the DVD and Blu-ray releases due in March.
Alas, no soundtrack but there is a 3 track digital EP available through the usual online providers. It contains the single “När natt flyr” and new versions of “Jag kommer hem igen till jul” and “Jag tror på dig”. Well worth checking out.
There is a music video for the new version of”Jag kommer hem igen till jul” (above), featuring more clips from the movie.
You may recall that “Jag tror på dig” is the Bob Dylan song from Peter’s Christmas album sung as a duet with Eva Dahlgren. The New version has a second uncredited male voice and although I haven’t seen the movie, I am guessing it is Johannes Kuhnke, who plays the brother. Johannes is also a singer and he even participated in Melodifestivalen back in 2010, the same year that Peter competed with”Hollow”.
Finally, another Christmas song from Peter, a duet with Moonica Mac. It is taken from a new animated short film based on the Astrid Lindgren picture story called “Räven och Tomten” (the story has been published in English as “The Tomten and the Fox”). The song with the same name is available through the usual online providers. The film was shown on SVT on Christmas Eve and can still be seen on SVTPlay albeit only in Sweden.
The song can be heard on Spotify and YouTube.
The music video features Peter at the piano intercut with clips from the movie. Great video for a beautiful song. It really makes me wish I could see the movie but it’s not playing in Australia. Maybe at next year’s Scandinavian Film Festival.
A new CD has been released in Sweden. “På Spåret 2009 to 2019” by Augustifamiljen.
På Spåret is a TV game show shown on SVT and Augustifamiljen is the house band. The show features musical guests and Peter has appeared a couple of times.
The album features a selection of performances from the past decade. Peter is represented with a version of the Bacharach/David classic “Arthur’s Theme (Best That You Can Do)”.
The album is available on CD in Sweden and through the usual digital outlets.
You can hear the song below and also see Peter’s appearance on the show.
The second single from Peter’s forthcoming album has been released. “Shape of You” is a song written by Peter himself, Kathryn Williams, Tobias Fröberg and Tobias Karlsson. It is produced by Tobias Karlsson and mixed by Ronny Lahti. The choir on the song features Joseph Clarke, Joachim Bergström, Kathryn Williams, Jessica Fox and Mariah Hargrove.
The song is available from the usual digital platforms.
Peter premiered the song on the TV4 show Sommarkrysset on 4 August 2018.
He also performed the previous single “The Mask”.
The album is due out at the end of October 2018.
Peter appeared at “Allsång på Skansen” on 26 June 2018. He performed two songs – “Stockholm i Natt” and his new single “The Mask”. Clips of the songs can be seen on SVT’s web site until 13 September 2018.
Peter also appeared during the annual concert to celebrate Princess Victoria’s birthday on 14 July 2018. He performed “The Mask”, “Juni, Juli, Augusti” and “Come What May” (with Emmi Christensen, Peter’s co-star from the Stockholm production of “Phantom of the Opera”). Unfortunately, this concert is about to be removed from SVT’s web site.
Peter has released a trailer for his new show starting on 20 September 2018 at Cirkus in Stockholm.
Peter has also announced the ensemble for his new show.
Jens Hultén is a well known Swedish actor who has appeared in such international films as “Skyfall” and “Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation”. He worked with Peter in the Swedish production of “Cabaret”.
Elin König Andersson is an acrobat who has performed around Europe and the United States.
Gunilla Backman is one of Sweden’s major musical stars, starring in such shows as “Mamma Mia (svensk version)”, “Miss Saigon” and “Les Misérables”. Peter sang a duet with Gunilla on her 2006 album “Nära mig”.
Marianne Mörck has worked with Peter before, namely in “Kristina från Duvemåla”. Marianne is primarily an opera singer and is well known to Swedish audiences. She also had a recurring role in the Swedish TV series of “Wallander”.
Frida Öhrn is known as the lead singer of Oh Laura who had an international hit with the song “Release Me” in 2007. She is currently a member of the group Cookies ‘n’ Beans as well as launching a solo career known simply as Öhrn. Peter has often worked with Cookies ‘n’ Beans over the last few years.
Daniel Mauricio is a dancer and singer who has appeared in “Lion King”, “West Side Story”, “Chicago” and “Book of Mormon”
Karl Noremo (not present but a photo is in the frame being held by Frida) is a dancer and singer who trained at the American Musical Theater Academy in London. He has appeared in shows like “Sweet Charity” and “Billy Elliott”.
