The second single from Peter’s forthcoming album has been released. “Shape of You” is a song written by Peter himself, Kathryn Williams, Tobias Fröberg and Tobias Karlsson. It is produced by Tobias Karlsson and mixed by Ronny Lahti. The choir on the song features Joseph Clarke, Joachim Bergström, Kathryn Williams, Jessica Fox and Mariah Hargrove.
The song is available from the usual digital platforms.
Peter premiered the song on the TV4 show Sommarkrysset on 4 August 2018.
He also performed the previous single “The Mask”.
The album is due out at the end of October 2018.
Peter appeared at “Allsång på Skansen” on 26 June 2018. He performed two songs – “Stockholm i Natt” and his new single “The Mask”. Clips of the songs can be seen on SVT’s web site until 13 September 2018.
Peter also appeared during the annual concert to celebrate Princess Victoria’s birthday on 14 July 2018. He performed “The Mask”, “Juni, Juli, Augusti” and “Come What May” (with Emmi Christensen, Peter’s co-star from the Stockholm production of “Phantom of the Opera”). Unfortunately, this concert is about to be removed from SVT’s web site.
Phantom of the Opera recently celebrated its 30th anniversary on Broadway. Peter, being the current Phantom, took part in the celebrations along with his co-stars Ali Ewoldt (Christine) and Rodney Ingram (Raoul).
On 22 January 2018, the celebration week kicked off with Peter, Ali and Rodney ringing the opening bell at the Nasdaq Stock Exchange. This was broadcast on a giant screen in Times Square.
Broadway.com looked back on 30 years of Phantom on Broadway. The article is illustrated with a stunning photoshoot of the three stars at the Parker New York Hotel. Click here for the article, a gallery of photos and a fun video where Peter, Ali and Rodney introduce themselves.
On 24 January 2018, there was a special gala performance of the show. Our trio started the day with a ceremonial lighting of the Empire State Building. Plenty of photos were taken and some can be seen at the following links: Playbill, Theater Mania and Broadway.com.
An episode of The Broadway.com Show featured coverage of the red carpet and gala performance. The segment starts at 6:34 and Peter pops up as one of the red carpet interviews.
As part of the gala performance, Peter performed alongside the original Christine, Sarah Brightman and the cast of School of Rock in a rock version of the “Phantom of the Opera” song. Amazing version.
The actual anniversary fell on 26 January 2018. Peter and Ali appeared on the Today Show to perform “Music of the Night”. You can see that video by clicking here.
Peter continues to play in Phantom until 31 March 2018. Visit the Upcoming Events section of Peter’s official site for a schedule of his appearances and links to book tickets.
Peter has joined the ensemble for a special concert, Trees & Love, in support of the aid organisation Vi-Skogen that plants trees in east Africa, as a way of alleviating poverty.
The concert will be held on 12 September 2017 at the Göta Lejon in Stockholm and all proceeds will go to support children in east Africa.
The concert will also be screened at cinemas across Sweden.
At the recent QX Gay Gala Awards, Peter was awarded Drag Artist of the Year, for his performance as Candy Darling in “Livet är en schlager”. “Livet är en schlager” also won the award for Show of the Year.
Peter gave an emotional acceptance speech where he paid tribute to his half brother Göran, who had passed away.
Peter also appeared on stage with John Glans to perform “Mil efter mil” from “Livet är en schlager”. Check out the video below.
Peter will be one of the performers on stage at this year’s World AIDS Day Gala in Stockholm. The Gala will be held at the Rival Hotel on 1 December 2014. Other performers include Shirley Clamp, Timoteij, Ann-Louise Hanson, Erik Linder and others.
Tickets can be booked here.
On 12 August 2014, Peter and Helen appeared on the popular TV show Allsång på Skansen, and performed a song from the upcoming musical, “Livet är en schlager”. The song is called “Som skapta för varann”.
The clip is still available for viewing at SVT Play. Click on the image above to be able to see it. It will be available until 11 September 2014.
The album is also available through iTunes internationally except Japan, USA and Canada. It will be available in those territories next week.
Above is the cover of the non-Scandinavian version of the album that is on iTunes. This has all the songs from the standard version except for “Annars vore jag inte jag” which was excluded because it is in Swedish. If you are from outside Scandinavia, you will need to order the physical album to get this track. It can be ordered from Bengans by clicking here.
If you are in Sweden this weekend, Peter will be signing copies of the album at NK Ljusgården in Stockholm from 1pm on Saturday and at Åhlens Nordstan in Gothenburg from 2pm on Sunday.
Peter Jöback performed at the wedding of Princess Madeleine and Christopher O’Neill in Sweden yesterday. It was a lightning visit since Peter had to get back to New York for his appearance at the Tony Awards. Consequently, Peter missed the after party.
Madeleine had personally requested that Peter sing at the wedding. The couple chose the romantic “The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face”, made famous by Roberta Flack.
You can watch Peter’s performance on SVT Play here.
